Welcome to CleanMail. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CleanMail's email verification API, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Important: By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Definitions
- "CleanMail," "we," "us," or "our" refers to CleanMail and its operators.
- "Service" refers to the CleanMail API, website, dashboard, and all related functionality.
- "User," "you," or "your" refers to the individual or entity using the Service.
- "Account" refers to your registered user account with CleanMail.
- "API Key" refers to the unique identifier assigned to your account for API access.
- "Content" refers to any data, email addresses, text, or information submitted through the Service.
2. Account Registration and Security
2.1 Account Creation
To use our Service, you must create an account with accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy and completeness of your account information.
2.2 API Keys
Upon registration, you will receive an API key. This key is unique to your account and must be kept confidential. You are solely responsible for:
- Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your API key
- All activities that occur under your account
- Immediately notifying us of any unauthorized use or security breach
2.3 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. Description of Service
3.1 Email Verification API
CleanMail provides email verification services including:
- SMTP Verification: Validates email addresses by connecting to mail servers
- Deliverability Scoring: Assesses the likelihood of email delivery
- Catch-all Detection: Identifies domains that accept all emails
- Disposable Email Detection: Detects temporary/disposable email addresses
- Role Account Detection: Identifies emails like admin@, support@, info@
- Free Provider Detection: Identifies free email services (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
- Spam Trap Detection: Detects known spam trap addresses
- Domain Age Check: Determines how long a domain has been registered
3.2 AI Enrichment
Our AI-powered enrichment service provides additional data about email contacts, including:
- Contact name and title
- Company information
- LinkedIn profile URL
- Social media presence
3.3 Breach Detection
We integrate with HaveIBeenPwned to check if email addresses have been involved in known data breaches, using their k-anonymity API for privacy protection.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Send unsolicited emails, spam, or any form of mass email distribution
- Harass, abuse, or threaten any person or entity
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
- Infringe on any intellectual property rights or privacy rights
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or networks
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any component of the Service
- Use the Service for any fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal purpose
- Collect email addresses without the consent of the recipients
- Use the Service to build a competing product or service
5. Usage Limits and Plan Restrictions
5.1 Daily Limits
Your usage is subject to daily verification limits based on your subscription plan:
- Free: 100 verifications per day
- Starter: 500 verifications per day
- Pro: 2,000 verifications per day
- Business: 5,000 verifications per day
5.2 AI Enrichment Limits
AI enrichment requests are limited based on your plan. Free and Starter plans include monthly allocations; Business plans have unlimited enrichment.
5.3 Excessive Use
If your usage significantly exceeds normal patterns, we may temporarily suspend your account and contact you to discuss higher-tier options.
6. Payment Terms
6.1 Pricing
Subscription pricing is displayed on our website and is subject to change. Price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
6.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
6.3 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we will notify you and attempt to process the payment again. After 7 days of failed payment, your account may be suspended.
6.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancelled accounts will retain access until the end of the current billing period.
7. Intellectual Property Rights
7.1 Our Intellectual Property
CleanMail and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of all data and email addresses you submit through the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing the Service.
7.3 Feedback
If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Service, we may use them without obligation to you.
8. Data Handling and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it carefully to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Key points regarding data:
- Email addresses submitted for verification are not stored after processing
- We retain account information and usage logs for service operation
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
- AI enrichment data is sourced from publicly available information
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Email verification results will be 100% accurate
- AI enrichment data will be complete or current
- Any errors in the Service will be corrected
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CleanMail shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Damages resulting from the use of or inability to use the Service
- Any conduct of third parties on or through the Service
Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CleanMail and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any law or regulation applicable to you
12. Modifications to Service and Terms
12.1 Service Changes
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.
12.2 Terms Changes
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after modifications constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Termination
13.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in your dashboard.
13.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Failure to pay fees when due
- Fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal activity
- Excessive or abusive usage
13.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us to attempt to resolve any dispute informally.
